Lemoore Air Show

One of the absolute joys of being a parent, is introducing something new with your child and seeing their eyes pop open wide with excitement. On Saturday, following Rebecca and Ethan's soccer game, we picked up my mom and without telling the kids where we were going, drove to Lemoore Naval Air Station to see the Air Show. The event is free admission and free parking. We finally told them what we were going to as we approached the long line of cars to get on the grounds to which Ethan replied "BORING!" Normally that would have ticked me off but instead it made Russ and I laugh. The nerve of this kid! Besides...we knew once he saw the jets up close and performing their stunts...he would LOVE it. About 30 seconds later we see one of the jets flying all around us, flipping around, flying upside down, shooting straight up...it was loud and it was AWESOME! So then Ethan says "Okay, this is cool." We hadn't even parked yet.

I will never forget how HUGE their eyes got when the jets flew from behind the crowd right over head and surprised everyone or seeing the ridiculously amazing formations the Blue Angels performed at the conclusion of the show.

It was a hot day and we definitely will be more prepared next year knowing what to bring and hopefully they will have figured out how to get the cars out of the station at the end of the show faster than 2 hrs (45 min of that in our parking stall not even moving). I may have given 1 or 2 of the military police a piece of my mind about the ridiculousness of the exiting the parking lot...I kept it clean but clearly made my point that it was unacceptable and dangerous if there was an emergency. Thank you for not placing me under arrest. It did allow for a brief life lesson with the kids about the importance of organization, planning and execution of a plan though. Kendall said at one point "This is taking forever. Are we going to spend the night here?" 1 exit for thousands of people....REALLY??

Watching the sky divers land on the airfield.

We managed to find a tad bit of shade in front of one of the display jets.

Absolutely amazing watching how close the Blue Angels fly in formation.

Of all the jets on display, this is the one Ethan chose to have his picture in. I think because it was the closest & it was hot.

Love those freckles. Rebecca wanted was a frozen lemonade to cool down.
Mom kickin' back enjoying the show & trying to stay cool.
