Rocket Launch - Cub Scouts

Last weekend we went out to Helm City on the way to Coalinga for Ethan's Cub Scout Rocket Launch. The original date in February got rained out. It was far from a rainy day on Saturday. After Ethan's baseball game, we headed out and had a great time! It was a warm day but not too bad under our pop up tent where we were shaded from the sun and could feel the breeze as we ate our picnic lunch and watched all the rockets take off.
Russ and Ethan adding the engine to his rocket.

Proudly holding up his Storm Chaser rocket.
Taking his rocket over to register it for launch.
Rocket has been hooked up to launch pad.

Ready to push the button to launch.

We have take off!
Retrieving his rocket in the big open field. They warn you to pay attention as the rocket parachutes down so you know where to go to retrieve it.
Ready to reload with a new engine and launch again. He got to send it off a total of 3 times this day.
Eating lunch while waiting for his next launch.
Watching the big rockets launch. Some of them were loud so Kendall covered her ears. There were other groups there in addition to the cub scouts. Apparently there is a rocket club that launches them here every 3rd Saturday. They had some big rockets with serious engines in them.
Cutie Pie!

Ready to pack it up and head home.
